select first value in the prompt without using the Javascripts

Hi ,

I have a list prompt, i want to select the first value of the list prompt without using the Javascripts. ( the prompt having only one value)



i am using cognos 10.

is it any way to achieve this

Hi Easwar,

your question is not clear,if your asking about default value please follow this process


>select that promt in the prompt page  >under properties >general > select default selection property>select the vaue you want to display in prompt (or enter the value)

whenever you run the report you will get it

if it is not your requirement please clearly post your requirement again.

and my requirement is as below.

i have one list prompt in which values come from a query. security applied on the query in FM level , so that only one value will come for the particular user.(based on the user login). i am using that query for prompt. it will display only one value. the value will differ deepends up on the user. so we cannot go for the option in properties DEFAULT SELECTION. second i dont want to user JS for this.

is it possible to select the value in the prompt page while running.

please let me know if question is not clear

Hi,

Make the prompt optional, so that it will take all the values (in your case a single value) in the prompt query.
