Hi all,

It is a long time I did not work with Transformer but I am really surprised because I needed to change Thousand and Decimal separator settings for measures.  Ok, a priori no problem.

First try change the regional settings -> did not work

Second try change the settings in cogtr.xml -> did not work even if in the Transformer I can see the result in the change in Measure\Format it is ok for instance #.##0,00 and in Example Separator are fine but when I generate the powercube I did not get the right separators, I got #,##0.00.

If someone know how to change these separators, it would be great.

Thanks in advance

Hi there,

To make the change the locale needs to be changed and a reboot needs to be done prior to a build.
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/c8bi/v8r4m0/topic/com.ibm.swg.im.cognos.ug_cogtr.8.4.0.doc/ug_cogtr_id21940dtsrc_general_dlghlp.html#dtsrc_general_dlghlp

Then it should display the way you want in Powerplay Client.
Did you reboot after changing the locale?
Where are you seeing the problem?  In Report Studio, Powerplay Studio, Analysis Studio or Powerplay Client?

Cheers

Hi Pete,

Thanks for your answer.

I did make the changes but when the users open the cube via Analysis Studio, they still do not see the changes.

But I know why now, it is because these settings (thousand and decimal separator) came from the settings of the Cognos 8 BI settings.

If you open a cube with Analysis Studio (whatever the regional settings used to build the cube), these settings (thousand and decimal separator) depend on the settings of the Content Language of the Regional Options (on Cognos 8 BI > My Preference), if your Content Language setting is English then decimal separator="." and thousand separator=",".

If you change your Content Language from English to French for instance then if you open the same cube via Analysis Studio  then decimal separator="," and thousand separator=".".

Easy if you know it.

Hope I have been clear and again thanks for your answer.

Hi there,

Thanks for the update.
As you've discovered the changes are not seen in Analysis studio as these c8 studio's take their settings from Preferences where as Powerplay Client takes the information based on the cube model.  So I should have also asked which reporting tool you would be using.

Still its resolved and that the main aim.. excellent.
