i m using cascading prompt in spite of that it is filtering on another page ??? and the auto submit property is not changing to "yes" will it be arising any problem ??

Hi,

You can get two prompts on the same prompt page to cascade quite easily. Add your new Prompt Page, then drag in a Value Prompt and configure it for your Region item. Then drag in a second Value Prompt from the toolbox and configure it for your Country item. Make sure to set the Cascade Source to point back to the Region parameter.

You will then need to reconfigure the Region prompt go get it to submit it's value. You have two options:

1. Set it's Multi-Select property to 'No' and it's Auto Submit property to 'Yes'
2. Leave it's Multi-Select property as 'Yes' and drag in a Prompt Button from the toolbox and drop it after the Region prompt. Select the button and set it's action to 'Reprompt' (the default is 'Next'). you can also relabel the button by dropping a text item from the toolbox directly on top of it.

Thanx Muppet for your such cooperation i did as you told me it is doing as i want but there is some thing going wrong in it that is

*i want that on same page there is two value prompt first one is for Region and as i select region the second value prompt will fill with the country name respectively.

what is going on when i did as you told me that ,

*firstly it shows one vale prompt on the page containing country names and and as i select country name it goes to the page having two value prompt first one is for region showing that region name in which country resides which i selected in the previous page and the second value prompt is empty that is for country now when i select the region it goes to the first page and shows only country name in a value prompt for the selected region
now again when i select the country name it goes to the second page and showing two value prompt showing region which we selected and country name which we selected.  ???

its getting head ache that's why i am also showing attachment step wise to understand my problem as mentioned above !

Hi,

I suspect you have some existing unneeded parameter filters lying around from your earlier attempts to get this to work.

Go to your main Report Page, click on your reporting object (list/crosstab etc - whatever it is) then press the Filter button on the toolbar.  If all is on order, you should have only two filters defined - one for Region and one for Country.  If you see more than two (which is what I suspect), then you will need to get rid of the unneeded ones.  The tricky bit is in determining which ones are not being used.  To do this, try the following:

1. Cancel out of the filters dialog, and navigate to your Prompt Page.
2. Select the Region prompt, look at its properties, and make a note of the parameter name in the Parameter property.
3. Select the Country prompt, and similarly make a note of its Parameter name.
4. Go back to your report page and select your reporting object.
5. Press the Filter button on the toolbar, and remove any filters pertaining to Region or Country which do not refer to the parameter names you made a note of in 2 and 3.

If you find you still cannot get this to work properly, then make sure you have only a single Prompt Page.  If in doubt, remove the prompt page and all the filters, run the report to make sure there are no remaining prompts, then set up the prompt page again with the two cascading prompts.

Good luck!!
