Hi
I have a requirement to alter the rollup of a percentage measure. The scenario is this:
My dimension is Plant / Supplier / Part.

At the bottom level, Part, I want to report the actual percentage , eg. 90% or 170% etc.

However, when rolling up to the supplier level, I want to effectively round down anything over 100% to 100%.

For example, my input records might be:
Part 1       90%
Part 2      70%
Part 3     150%

But when rolled up the total is 260 (ie 90 + 70 + 100) rather than 310.

The volume of intersections effectively rules out the use of 'external rollup'

Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks

You shouldn't have to round them to 100%. You are probebly getting this result because you used
the standard calculation to calculate the percentage so it might be rolling it up instead of calculating the percentage of each category.

I use the 'percent' function available in Transformer and it works fine. It does not 'add up' but gives the correct percentage of all levels.

Hi Cognostechie

Thanks for replying. I am not sure if I have not understood your reply, or if you have not understood my question  :)

The problem I have is that I need to add the percentages, (as they are averaged out further down the line), but I need to add the percentage only after anything over 100 is rounded down to 100.

When I look at the percentage figures at lowest level, I need to see the actual percentage, which might be over 100.

Hi Ian,

The only way I can think of to achieve this is Externally Rolled Up Measures.  I know you ruled that out already, so I'm not much help, sorry!

Cheers!
