Reinstalling IBM Cognos Express

Hi All,

I am trying to reinstall Cognos Express on a server. I had Cognos Express installed on this machine but for some reason had to uninstall and reinstall it. I am able to reinstall Cognos Express Manager and Reporter.

But while reinstalling Xcelerator/Advisor , I am getting the following error:

SDK-ERR-0064 Installation of Advisor failed: MOD-ERR-0001 A version of TM1 server has already been installed on this machine

The error states that there is another TM1 server running on the machine. But I do not have any other TM1 server running on this machine.I checked the registry and it seems it has not removed the registry keys for the previous Cognos Express Xcelerator installation like tm1admsdx64.I am wondering if thats the reason why I am getting this error.

Does anyone know I can resolve this issue??

Hi,

I ran into very similar issues when installing Express Xcelerator onto a machine which previously had TM1 installed.  You will need to remove the registry keys for the prior Express install to allow the new install to progress smoothly.

Make sure you take a backup of your registry before you start making changes.

i deleted cognos express with out uninstalling bcoz wen i uninstalling its stopping in middle and stuck thats reason i deleted now one .xml file left in that folder unable to delete when i again trying to reinstall express its saying already available in system please help me...

OK - since you've got this far, you're not going to be able to uninstall Express using normal methods.  Here are some things to check:

Firstly, check the services configured on your machine.  If you have any of the following services still registered, you will need to remove them:

IBM Cognos Express
IBM Cognos Express Advisor
IBM Cognos Express Xcelerator Admin Service
IBM Cognos Express Xcelerator Excel Service
IBM Cognos Express Xcelerator Server - CXMD
Informix IDS - cm_ids_svr_custom
Informix IDS Message Service

Next, stop any running web servers on your machine (such as IIS), and try to remove the remaining parts of the Express install from disk.

Finally, edit the registry and remove entries relating to Cognos Express or TM1.  Remember to make a backup of your registry beforehand!!
