Title: Excel tab rename
Post by: tupac_rd on 20 May 2010 10:37:39 AM
Hi Gurus,

I have seen this topic multiple times here without a solution.

When we add a page break to a report based on a grouped query subject, can we have the excel tabs renamed based on the data in the grouped query subject. For eg, if we group on month, can we have the tabs renamed to Jan, Feb, Mar etc., instead of Page1-1, Page1-2,Page1-3 and so on.....

Thanks
2pac

I did a google search and I found this thread:

The above link provides a workaround.  You need to use a marco and I am not sure how you would pre-load the marco into excel.  Some else would need to provide the answer to that bit.

However, the worst scenario is you output the excel file, open the file load the marco, then run the marco, and sent it out.  If you have to do it on a regular basis, this process could be automated.

Thanks v.much for the reply. I was planning on automating the reports to run weekly with all the tabs named which is not possible without the macros.... I will try to convince the users that they will have to load a macro. I am sure they will not be happy about this because, they are planning to get rid of excel reporting (manually) every week and have cognos do the reporting/calculations for them, but I am still making them do a manual step...
