Title: Modifying a Cube to add Another IQD data source
Post by: tabanchuy on 18 May 2010 11:04:23 PM
Hi,

I have a requirement to modify an existing cube which consists of changing the IQD script and then adding another data source (IQD).

1. Do i have to open the original IQD in Ipromptu to modify the criteria for selection or can i just edit the SQL script in notepad?

2. Adding another IQD data Source, how do i specify the link between two data source? is it also specified in transformer?

Thanks in advance.

regards,
tabanchuy

You can simply edit the existing IQD, that would make the most sense.

What about no.2 sir, is it something i can include in editing the IQD?

Thanks sir! I'm just reviewing every requirement i am faced with as of the moment. I have no cognos tools intalled in my PC yet as it is still subject for approval as I am new to the company. The main reason why i cant try it out yet. So for the moment as not to waste time i'm just anticipating the solutions by imagination, as i cant experiment yet.

The solution proposed by rockytopmark is the simpliest but the most difficult too, even if you don't have any experience with SQL.
In this case, the best way (secure and evolutive) is to modify the requests that were used to generate your IQDs (through your Impromptu Catalogue for Transformer 7.4 and before, your Framework Manager projet for Transformer COGNOS 8.3 and before or your portal for Transformer 8.4).
