Title: IBM Cognos data manager - Oracle connection error
Post by: fredy_delgado on 18 May 2010 11:24:25 AM
I have Oracle database 11g R1 64 bits installed and working in a windows server 2008 R1 64 bits.
I have IBM Cognos Data Manager 8.4.27.78 32 bits  installed in the same machine but when I try to connect to Oracle as data source or as catalog source I got following error:

1. ERROR
DM-DBM-0402 UDA driver reported the following:
UDA-SQL-0432 Unable to locate the gateway "cogudaor".
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. ERROR
DM-DBM-0306 UDA driver error connecting to 'ALIAS_068DFD18'.

I found about "cogudaor": The "cogudaor" is the Windows gateway for establishing connections to an Oracle data source. -Cognos Forum

then should I assume the problem is Oracle 64 bits ???

I tried with IBM Cognos 8 Business Intelligence server 32 bits. I configured  Oracle 11g R1 64 bits as content manager and it works, but I got same error creating data sources via portal (UDA-SQL-0432 Unable to locate the gateway "cogudaor")

Any idea ??? Thanks...

Hi,

You need to use the 32-bit Oracle client libraries with Data Manager and Cognos 8.  They will not work with the Oracle 64-bit client.

Regards,

MF.

You still need the 32bit driver for Cognos 10 DM, even on a 64bit machine.
