Title: Regarding Certification
Post by: jyothi_ph on 15 Aug 2005 02:04:10 PM
Hai

I am new to Cognos and I would like to know abt the certification exams,I had visited the web site www.cognos.com and I would like to take the BI Author Test first. Which all ReportNet Pdf files have to be mastered for this exam? ( I did not have any professional training for the same but have a few months experience in Impromptu, Power Play and ReportNet)
How are the questions distributed ?
Would Cognos let you take these exam without taking their TrainingCourses?
Or do you have to take their prerequest courses before being eligible to take the test?

Thanks

As far i know, if u have an access to the partner network of cognos then u can take the exam without the training courses. I don't know for non-partners access. U can check with the sqlstar which is the only authorized training partner of cognos in India.

You don't need to take any courses in order to take the exam. But your company must be current Cognos customer (which means the support contract is valid). All Cognos exams are done through the Internet and they are all multiple choice questions. I think you can have 3 attempts for each exam.

I am not sure about BI Author cert, but most Cognos Certificates require you to pass multiple exams before they give you the certificate.

I think it is OK to talk about what areas the exams focus on but not about the actual questions and answers. This forum should not be the place for that.  Do yourself a favor. Learn from these posts and I am sure, passing the exams will not be difficult at all.

Hi JO,

You are Right JO,

These are the four level we have to right the Exams:
1) Basic Query and Reporting
2) Cognos ReportNet Advanced Authoring
3) Cognos ReportNet Metadata Modeling
4) Report and Server Administration

I Cleared Basic Query and Reporting Certification. Regarding fee Details In SQL Star I wrote free for attending the Exam. They will give three times to write the test each paper. I paid the course fee Rs.30,000/-

Cheers
Suneel

Hi Jyothi,

You Have to Prepare

1) 1050
2) 1051
3) 1053
4) 1054

1) Basic Query and Reporting --
There are a total of 60 questions in 1 section. You have 60 minutes to complete this test. A set of answers preceded by square checkboxes indicates there is more than one correct answer. A set of answers preceded by round checkboxes indicates there is only one correct answer.

2) Cognos ReportNet Advanced Authoring --
There are a total of 40 questions in 1 section. You have 40 minutes to complete this test. A set of answers preceded by square checkboxes indicates there is more than one correct answer. A set of answers preceded by round checkboxes indicates there is only one correct answer.

ALL THE BEST.
