Title: Increase performance using multiple instances of cognos on single server
Post by: Sing Tang on 07 Apr 2010 12:47:10 AM
Hi All

We have a single server installation on a fairly grunty machine, the machine has 16GB of RAM and Quad Core cpu running at 2.53hz and the OS is windows server 2003 enterprise edition. We would like to utilize as much of the processing power and resources as possible, there has been word from various parties that multiple installations of Cognos on the same server will cater for this, is this true? And also, I'am aware that with this type of installation, each instance will need to have a different port number, but other then this, is anything else required in the configuration? I'm not really understanding how the requests/processes will be handled in such an environment, if someone is able to provide some insight, that would be greatly appreciated as well.

Regards
Sing
