Hi,
I just tried a quick test of this in 8.4.1, and it seems to work fine for me. What build of 8.4 are you using?
MF.
Hmmm - OK - that's very odd - the post was edited while I was replying, so I've replied to a non-existant question. I guess you found an answer to the prompt issue, then edited the original post? If there's a neat solution, would you post it up for us?
Many thanks,
MF.
Well, let us not waste this post ;D
MFGF, on the 8.4 build. I applied FP1 and FP2 on 8.4 Would that amount to 8.4.1. ? Or is that een a patch/fixpack further?
Any idea
Hi Blom,
If you applied FP1 then FP2 to the 8.4 GA install, you are currently running 8.4FP2, which is an earlier release than 8.4.1. 8.4.1 is a newer full release than 8.4, and requires you to uninstall the original 8.4 version then install 8.4.1 in its place (unlike the fix packs, which install over the currently installed version).
So - this is a long-winded way of saying you are not on 8.4.1, because it is the next release on from what you are currently running.
Cheers!
MF.
Thank you MFGF.
I just checked the environment listing for both 8.4 and 8.4.1. Interesting to spot that 8.4.1. lists IE 8 as an active component, whereas 8.4 does not !!
Yes - IE8 was added as a supported browser for the 8.4.1 release. I haven't moved up from IE7, though, so it was just a "good to know" feature for me. :)

Sorry guys, I found the answer to my issue and wanted to delete the post; couldn't and ended up in modifying it.
Well, the issue I had was - a filter prompt created in the model was showing as a type-in prompt rather than drop-down. This very field that I was prompting on is a concatenated field created in the model layer and the prompt on that field is also in Model layer. This worked well in prior cognos versions.
In 8.4, I created the calculated dataitem (with needed concatenation) in databse layer and then applied the prompt in model layer and it worked.
Thanks for the info on the solution - very useful!
Sounds like this is something you should log with IBM too, as C8 should provide the specified prompt type regardless of whether it is defined on a data source query item or a model query item. If they know about it, it can go onto the fix list for a future release.
Cheers!
