Has anyone upgraded to 8.4.1 yet? Any issues or bugs found?
Only upgrades or new installs as well?
We're running 8.4.1. on our training system. I'll let you know if we find bugs or issues.
I'm running 8.4.1 on my machine. There are some specifics to follow if you want interoperability with TM1 portlets, Controller and Planning, but it's not difficult, and seems to work fine once done.
My instance started out as 8.4FCS, then went to GA, then FP1, then FP2, and now is up to 8.4.1 (as each became available.)
8.4.1 seems to fix a few known issues, and has been given the "Blue Wash" too - all the splash screens are now true IBM look and feel.

Thank you for the feed back. We are considering upgrading from 8.4 FP2 to 8.4.1 because of some of those fixes and the mash-up service.
Good luck! Let us know how you get on.

This might be a dumb question but is there a separate license for 8.4.1 or can it be used like any other Fix Packs?
Thanks
Provided you have maintenance with IBM, you can download and install it as usual - the licensing model does not change.
MF.
Does this also apply for (for example) moving from 8.3 to 8.4?
It depends. Now your Cognos software is owned by IBM, you can continue with your existing licensing by role/user etc, or you can switch to a server-based licensing system based on PVU (Processor Value Unit) numbers. Assuming you are staying with your current licensing, and you have maintenance with IBM, you can download the 8.4 builds from IBM and upgrade as part of your ongoing maintenance agreement. If you want to change your licensing model, you will need to talk to your IBM account manager.
Hope that helps!

I've had a hard time finding documentation supporting an in-place upgrade -- the Installation Guide seems to say "uninstall old version, install new version", which seems like a lot of work for a minor release. Has anyone upgraded in place over 8.4 (ideally, over 8.4 FP2)?
The process you describe is correct - you need to uninstall the original 8.4 and install the new 8.4 version into the same folder structure. Your content store, deployment folder and configuration settings etc should all remain intact, but when I do this I always make sure I have them backed up beforehand just in case. I've never had to use the backups yet, though!

Spooky! You sound just like my boss! ;D

... Actually, the photo somewhat resembles how I look after a support session.

IBM Cognos support, perchance? If so, I'm deeply impressed!

No no no.......
On the receiving end.
(btw don't mean to hijack this thread, it's just I'm a big muppet fan. Love the Swedish Chef, my fav)

Indeed! :)
I was ideally after an avatar of one of the Grumpy Old Men (thanks to good old ReportNet Addict) but I haven't found a suitable one yet...
