we have around 15-20 .imr report already built. Now we need to convert/upgrade them to cogno 8 report studio report. Please help us by providing best approach (in details..if possible)

There is no conversion possible as the technology involved is totally different. You need to remodel in FM , publish packages and rebuild your reports.
The difference between Cognos 7 client and 8 Web is such that products could have been designed by different vendors..

There is a migration toolkit you can use to get from Impromptu 7 to Cognos 8 (migratetoC8), but you will need to contact IBM Cognos services to get a copy of this.  To be honest, if you only have 20 reports, it will most likely be quicker for you to create them from scratch in Report Studio.
