Title: Administering Report Prompts
Post by: sag4cognos on 02 Dec 2009 12:00:09 PM
Hello All,

I am creating a report which will be having several prompts including department IDs, Project codes and Month. The report will be provided for public access and end users can provide their own values for the prompts.

The issue here is : One specific Prompt, needs to be controlled only by the Administrator. The values need to get saved and the end user should not have the capability to change the value in the prompt.
For the rest of the prompts, the end user is free to pick his/her own values.

Any suggestions or ideas on this? ???

Thank you for the help,
Sagar :)

Sounds like you might be able to make use of row-level security either in your database or with Cognos.

Hello cschnu,

I am not sure what your suggestion is.

Do you mean that I need to ensure that the data flowing into that one particular prompt, be controlled be security settings, enforced either at Cognos 8 BI layer or at database layer?

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks,
Sagar
