Title: IBM Cognos Express Advisor Service Fails to Start

Hello,

I have a Cognos Express setup on a VMWare Machine and everytime i start logging in to Windows, i encounter a message telling me that a service failed to start. It turns out to be the Advisor service after checking windows logs.

Advisor service is set to Automatic and fails to start each time. Why is this happening?

I am running on:

Windows 2003 Standard x64 SP2
Core2 duo processor
8GB RAM

Hi,

Can you please check the following?

•   Which version of Cognos you are installing
•   Check the prerequisites for Cognos for 64 bit (java etc....?)
•   Is Cognos Supported by VM?
•   If yes. In which mode you are installing (standalone or fully qualified domain name)
•   While installing check the machine name, domain names properly

One other thing to check - has TM1 previously been installed?  I've seen situations where a prior TM1 installation had not been completely removed from the registry, causing various problems with Express.
