Title: Restricting Users to see PDF/HTML/Excel based on User Groups
Post by: techieaman on 20 Nov 2009 09:02:40 PM
Hello All Gurus,

I have some strange requirement from users asking for a single report being run in pdf for some users and in excel for some users.
What that means is that a report in public/my folder of a user should not see beyond a particular format he gets access to?

Can anyone tell me if this requirement can be met? Can we restrict/remove/disable all formats for a report for a user and let him run only the needed format?

thanks in advance. waiting for some concrete information on this

thanks

aman

If all of the reports are scheduled to run in advance, you could create separate report views in the different output versions and put security on each view...  just a thought.  You can also disable the "run with options" capability through Cognos Administration for these users so that they cannot run the report using a different distribution option.

Hi Cognos_Guru,

Thanks for the reply. cheduling option wont work, as users will like to run reports by themselves.
What I can try is to disable run with options for select people in groups through security. How do I implement showing multiple formats in cognos report studio then?

Any steps/documentation will be great.

Thanks and Warm Regards,

Aman
