Title: how to migrate iqds to cognos.4

we are thinking to migrate from c7 to c8(power cubes)

any idea how to migrate IQDs into c8.

Cognos 7 Power cubes can be directly used in Cognos 8. Just copy the mdc file to Cognos 8 server, create the package based on mdc file , create data source connection and create the necessary view in the cognos connection.
Even Cognos 8 has Transformer, so you can use the same iqd for the creating a new model if required.

could you please explane me how to copy mdc files to cognos 8 server. I am new to migration process.

In simple terms,
If "xyz.mdc" file is already exists,then copy this file from the cognos 7 server system and cognos 8 server system in a folder (its just file copy and paste ), create the data source based on this cube file, create package &  publish it and create the required views of the published package using analysis studio from cognos connection.
