Hi All,

I want to use report studio using VPN. What are the issues when using with VPN connection

1.It will take long time to execute u r report.

2.We don't know the exact execution time, So u don't know whether u r report having any performance issue or not.

3.Connecting to the VPN itself it will take 10-15 mins.

4.Suppose If u keep u r system idle for 10-15 mins then VPN will automatically disconnects, Then again u have to connect... :( again it will take 10-15 mins..

So overcome these situations we installed Cognos in our local(exactly same to server) and develop the reports , finally we copy the xml spec and paste it in the server (VPN ) and available for user review...

It depends on what you use for your VPN. We don't have any of those issues when we VPN in, it's slightly slower but not noticeable for the average user.
