Can any one help me what are the prerequisite for installing Reportnet and steps for configure it.
If any provide Installation Guide for reportnet will be great helpfull.

You get the installation guide with the software.
One of the pre-requisites is that you need to have an SQL Server/DB2. It will ask you the location during installation.
I don't have report net software.
If you could provide me installation guide it would be of great help

Why would you need Installation Guide if you don't even have the Reportnet software???? What are you going to install ??
Why do you need to know how to configure it if you don't even have it ????

I'm sure there was no malice meant in the last post (esp. given cognostechie's contribution and history with cognoise).
Unlike some of the other software vendors, Cognos does not provide demo software (or if they did, they've stopped doing so) which makes it a little hard to learn from scratch if you're not a paying license holder. (Incidentally, I don't think I've seen a softcopy of the Installation guide for reportnet)
Your best bets are:
- arrange a demo with your local Cognos rep (or find a friend who has access)
- have a look at the computer-based training on cognos.com
Or, if you are in the evaluation stage of selecting between BI solutions I'm sure there are many forum members that may be able to help you if you have a specific query in mind.

The CRN installation includes a set of documentation in both HTML and PDF formats that include an Installation and Configuration guide as well as a Quick Start Install/Configure guide. I've spent a few minutes looking through both and don't see any obvious copyright/do not distribute notices in the HTML versions, so if a forum administrator will say it's OK I'd be happy to attach or upload the PDF version of the quick guide for you to evaluate. It's about 157kb unzipped.
The quick precis for requirements is a Windows OS server with 1gb RAM and at last 1gb storage for temp directory. It also requires a web server and database server, both for the data you're reporting on (if you're reporting from a db and not, say, flat files) and for the CRN content store. They support Oracle, DB2 and SQL Server, with different setup instructions for each. Web browser requirements include cookie and JavaScript enabled, and if IE is used then Active Scripting/ActiveX requirements are specified. A mail server is needed if you want to send out via email.
The basic steps for single-server installation are:
- Create the content store on your database server
- Install CRN (it uses a setup wizard to install)
- Configure CRN for your environment
The last step includes web server virtual directory setup for three directories, database connectivity established to the content store, mail server account establishment (optional), and then (if needed) installation of the Framework Manager and setup of the models you'll be using for reporting. You can also use Cognos Configuration to set up security providers (such as Exchange or LDAP) and other cool stuff. This is all if you want to use CRN on a single server (both a report server and web server) - if you want to segment your reporting platform across multiple servers you'll need to follow the more complex requirements specified in the full configuration guide.
I have only done single server installations in support of our Onyx CRM deployment here, but we also have it deployed across multiple servers in our enterprise reporting system. The single server scenario installation is pretty straightforward, but it can get a little tricky when you start adding additional splits in the mix (i.e., web server on one machine, app server on others). However, the guide does a good job of walking through everything.
