Title: Will Audit database contents be migrated in a Full Content store export?
Post by: Cogusr on 09 Oct 2009 10:39:10 AM
Hi All,

Willl Audit database contents be migrated  in a Full Content store export? (i.e. all the Audit information stored in the audit database).

Thanks in Advance.

If I'm not mistaken the Audit Database is completely separate from the content store so a full export of the content store is only the content store.

Audit reports will be migrated but not the Audit DB unless you restore the Audit DB from the environment you are deploying from.

Suraj,

Does restoring of old audit db work? if you restore your old audit db to a new environment, new logging will not take place. How did you achieve this?

Restoring of old audit db works.
When we moved from Cognos 8.2 to 8.3, we restored old audit db and we see both new and old audit data there.
Unless the tables are completely changed, it should work with newer versions.
We are upgrading to 8.4 and I'll keep this in mind to confirm this.

I spoke to Cognos about this and they cannot gaurentee that they will not change the log table setup between versions.  You may have to use some sort of ETL tool to move the data across.
