Title: PowerPlay cube performance on the server
Post by: Grish on 03 Sep 2009 06:52:54 AM
I am trying to understand how the PowerPlay cube internals are actually working on the server side.

How much memory can a cube utilize on a 32-bit server? Does it take advantage of multithreding technology of the CPU? Does it do a lot of disk I/O?

Cognos documents are not much help as they mention a 10mb cube as large.

I need this information to properly size the new production PPES machine.

If your server has multi core cpu's it can be expolited by Cognos through the 'Database Sources' section. Apart from that make sure you have fast HDD's and 4GB of memory and you'll be fine
