Title: [Solved] [MM] Metrics Content Store Database Not Supported???
Post by: JGirl on 05 Dec 2005 03:37:40 PM
Hi,

I've just installed Cognos 8 on my computer (all one one machine), and I've got the content stores created in Oracle 9i.Ã,  I've created a new database for the metrics8 content store, however when I go to initialise it (through Cognos Connection --> New Metrics Package) I get an error message saying that the database version is unsupported.

Has anyone else stumbled across this, and if yes, how did you solve it (apart from usingÃ,  SQL serverÃ,  ;) )

What version of 9i are you using?Ã,  Take a look @ this:

I'm using Oracle 9i Release 2 (9.2.0.1.0) and have copied the classes12 file into the appropriate directory.

I'm actually using the same installation of Oracle (obviously a different database) as the Cognos8 content store.

In my case setting up NLS_LANG to AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8 helped to resolve similar issue.

Looks like i've temporarily turned blonde.....

I'd misread the minimum database version required and funnily enough, when you try and use an unsupported database, you'll probably get a message about the database being unsupported.

But for reference, it works as the cognos8 content store, but not for metrics

Sorry to waste everyones time with this one.....
