Title: Active Directory: The base DN is wrong
Post by: icelava on 31 Aug 2009 08:58:57 PM
Hi there, we are at a customer location where a variety of Cognos 7 packages are still in use. The authentication store is in Active Directory. Cognos deployment has been around for a long time, and during this stretch the folks who set this up are long gone; nobody seems to have a clear idea how all these were configured. We are now attempting to setup Cognos for another test environment and are trying to figure out the exact requirements and steps to properly configure this.

Looking at the Access Manager configuration of other existing servers, their path to an existing domain is using

OU=COGNOS2,DC=domain,DC=com

By using this exact same path on a new server, Access Manager complains

The base DN you have entered is wrong. Please try again.

We are not quite sure how to troubleshoot this error; there don't seem to be much information regarding this message?

Hello

At a guess.

The base DN is set in the LDAP server, sunONE.  The values you have posted below are not the defaults.  This indicates that the guys who set this up applied their own setup.

I havent looked at this myself, but a pointer would be to look on sunONE at the LDAP setting.

Hope this helps.
