Title: Content Store on Sybase
Post by: BIsrik on 09 Aug 2005 12:42:33 AM
Hi, Can anyone explain me why Content Store cannot be configured in Sybase. As per the cognos, ORACLE, SQL SERVER AND DB2 are the only 3 RDBMS on which Content Store can be configured. Why can't we do this on the other RDBMS. What makes it to stop this?

Cognos made that decision based on market penetration by Sybase.

Ok That was the answer they also gave me. I wanted to know what makes to stop this. Instead they could have done on a general basis. If u have sybase then configure on sybase, if u oracle then configure on oracle. Why did they restrict these choices. Is it anyway related to the Reportnet Architecture...or other part of reportnet.

It is not related to ReportNet Architecture. For all I know it could run on an ODBC connection. I'd have to guess they've had to put some C code specific to the 3 databases and decided that should cover 95% of the market.
