Title: COG-132 Metadata Certification
Post by: myd3p on 27 Aug 2009 10:41:47 AM
Hi everyone!

I'm planning to take certification on COG-132 Metadat Modelling. Is Framework Manager User Guider enough resource to pass the exam? I would appreciate if someone can provide other details or resources that is required to pass the exam. Thanks again.

Regards,

Hi there

I am taking that exam next week. I very much doubt that the product information will be sufficient. The curriculum includes elements of data modelling theory that are not mentioned anywhere in the product information. I guess though that you are in the same situation as me in terms of accessing suitable revision materials. Given that in most cases pigs may fly sooner than your employer will fork out for training you may want to consider self funding however it is expensive even for online learning.

Thanks, J

jwilkinson,

so how did your exam go ?

Please, do share your valuable experiences....

Was there any part from Transfomer & Report Studio in the Cog-132 exam too ?

Thanks a lot in advance.!

I have already done the Cognos 8 BI Metadata Models and it has no aspect of RS or Transformer.

From what i can remember you need to know such as:
Reporting traps
The SQL generated by the engine (coelerse)

The user guide is probabaly enough to get you through the exam but there will be other bits and pieces not covered.

Thanks a lot, Northern_Monkey !!

Its good to know that there are no questions from RS or Transformer.

Also, I need to focus on FM user guide including reporting traps and SQLs.

here is my plan:
(1) Complete FM user guide
(2) Framework I & II chapters from Dan Volitich's book

Any other suggestions/tips, please ??

I really need to pass the exam as its very very important for me now.

Regards,

Although i had the training material at the time,  i was studying on my holiday and no access to a PC and ultimately FM so i used the Dan V book as a study guide.
It explains things in much more undertstable way.
Everything covered in those chapters will be enough to pass the exam.

(The book is also a really ref guide to passing the RS exam)

Hi there

I passed yay, 100%. The subject is metadata modelling so that shouts Framework Manager and indeed FM and datamodelling theory were by far the main areas covered.

I think FM security was well worth revising and ensuring you know the various main menu options inside out. Most of the information I applied in the exam came from the product document and information I had gathered from the Internet about data modelling such as traps and key differences between relational and dimensional modelling.
