Title: Allowing a Contributor Reviewer to run Cognos connection macros
Post by: Teamkenji on 10 Aug 2009 04:15:08 AM
Can any body give me a hint as to how I can give access to a Non-Administrator to run a published macro from Cognos connection.

I would like to create a "macro" folder beneath the list of Planning packages, and inside it,have the published cognos connection macros. This as opposed to having them access cognos administration.

Create a security group in Cognos Connection. In that group put the users you want to be able to run the macros. In "Cognos Administration" in Cognos Connection you have to grant access to end users to be able to execute objects in Cognos Connection.

Next, import that group into the Security Rights section of the CAC and assign "execute" access to the macros you want the security group to be able to run.

For the specific configuration in Cognos Connection search the Cognos knowledgebase. Cognos posted an article from the help they provided me.

Before you give your end users this ability make certain they know how to monitor jobs in Cognos Connection to ensure that a macro isn't already running prior to them executing a new one. We ran into a lot of problems allowing end users to run macros and eventually we removed their rights from being able to do this.
