Title: [Unsolved] Consistent Pie Chart Colors
Post by: hmw on 30 Nov 2005 01:16:23 PM
Hi All,
I have 4 databases that are the exact same structure only with different data. I have imported all four dbs into one model. Now I am trying to create one report with four pie charts; one for each db. The series in the chart is Type. The db lists 5 different value options for the Type field. Each db may or may not use all 5 values. My problem is the legend assigns the color sequentially, not based on the value of the field. I have sorted the legend alphabetically, but if the first in the list isnââ,¬â,,¢t used in a db then the second value uses the first color. I have also tried to use conditional formatting but I canââ,¬â,,¢t figure out how to get the color in the chart to change based on the variables. I just want consistency across all charts. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I logged a call with Cognos Support. Their response is below:

I have picked up case #3301761.Ã,  At present it is not possible to change the color in a chart based on a value in the database or in the query.Ã,  This functionality has been logged as an enhancement request under reference #476745.

I will be parking this case against this enhancement so that the relative priority will be raised, and so that you will be notified if this functionality becomes available in a future version of the product.
