Title: Audit Logging Database
Post by: cschnu on 05 Aug 2009 10:31:50 AM
My environment is:
Cognos 8.3 on Windows Server 2003

I am attempting to setup audit logging in Cognos and send the logs to an Oracle database. I currently have an Oracle content store database working with Cognos. The audit log service for the database fails to start and when test it I get the following errors:

1. [ ERROR ] IPFTEST-006 Logging failed to connect to Database:jdbc:oracle:thin:@
2. [ ERROR ] IPFTEST-002 Logging is missing Driver for Database:jdbc:oracle:thin:@

IBM.com has a few knowledge base articles on this subject KB # 1030651 & 1036707. I have tried the steps outlined in those articles but I still get the same error. I am currently running Oracle client 10.2.0.4.

How do I turn debugging on to get more of a detailed error message?
Are there any other solutions or resolutions that anyone has come across?

I had it a few times with 8.3 on oracle 10 that the CS connection would use the ojdbc14.jar, but that the audit store connection would use the old skool classes12.jar. Never really understood why.

Ok, that worked thanks. Now both classes12.jar and ojdbc14.jar are in the /webapps/p2pd/WEB-INF/lib. That hasn't caused any problems in your environment has it?

I've done it in various environments.
So it's either ok, or all those customers lost my business card.
