Hello,
I am trying to plug an Excel pivot table directly into a Cognos cube (mdc file), I haven't managed to get Excel to recognize the Cube as an OLAP source. Does anybody know if it is possible to do what I am attempting to do and if so which drivers I need to download. I am using Cognos 8.3 and Excel 2007.
Thank You
You'll need to install Cognos Office (it's an add-in for Cognos, and it is free). You can then use the Cognos Office tool to access your Cubes directly in any Office tool (PowerPoint, Excel, etc).
Hi,
Thanks for your help, I've been busy on other projects and I've only just got round to trying your suggestion.
I have installed Cognos Go Office and I can extract data from repots into excel and from reports buit on cubes. However I haven't been able to use the pivot table function of excel directly on to my OLAP cube (generated with transformer). Do you know if there is a way of doing that?
Thanks,
Ozz,
There is a tool called Cognos Analysis for Excel (CAFE). It allows you to build the equivalent of Pivot Tables on steriods within Excel. Give me a call if you want to discuss pricing for this solution - Dustin - 423-331-2277 or email me at dadkison@brightstarpartners.com
