Title: Reports using Excel
Post by: teelee on 28 May 2009 02:31:25 PM
Hello All,
Is there a way I can use Cognos Reporting tool to create reports from Excel directly without creating a model in Framework Manager and then publishing it to Cognos?

Thanks and have a wonderful day! :)

I think you can... I havent tried it out personally but you can try to create a user defined data source using excel and use that data source in framework manager... I will try it out personally and let you know the results later on...

HI teelee,

yes ,we can Use DATA Source as EXCEL sheet in Cognos for that we need to follow some steps plzz see the below...

1)create a Range in your Excel sheet i.e. select the rows and columns that u want to take it as data in Report and go to the Menu bar select INSERT ---->Define---->and give the name to your selected Range area.

2)create an ODBC for that Particular Excel sheet.

3)and take it as data source by creating a Data Source Connection in Cognos.

4)now Create a Package for that particular Data Source and Publish it

5)now u can use ur Excel data in the Reports ..............

hope it wil heps u ....
