Title: creating a secod framework manager model

hi

just wondering if anyone could tell  me how to create a seond model to a sql database on a seperate server than the one that cognos is installed on..I am trying the connection and it prompts me for a username and password. I tried several paaswords and did not work. Do i need another sa account on teh other sql server. I am fairly new to cognos .

You do not need to have an sa account (no developer should have), but you do need to have rights to access the SQL server instance. so the account you are working on should be authorized to access the server (either directly or as part of a group) All of this assuming that you use windows authentication to the server..

hi i do have access this server and play with the server in question. i have a network account that gives me full access to this server but the network account dont seem to work when trying to create this datasource in framework manager

Did you specify the correct servername in the Cognos connection string?
