Title: Unique Level in DMR
Post by: twegner on 15 May 2009 05:11:33 AM
Hi,

I recently heard that selecting "UNIQUE LEVEL" while creating dimension levels is no longer relevant from 8.3 moving forward. Can anybody confirm that?

Thanks

Thomas

I am curently working on Cognos 8.4 and as far as I have used FM for DMR, unique level is still important part in DMR modeling.

Cognos_8_bi - can you confirm that when setting the unique level, a different query is generated versus not setting the unique level?

I don't set the unique level and my results are correct when using dmr.

Not setting a level unique would trigger Cognos to use the next higher level to create uniqueness. In almost all cases this has no consequence, but the reverse situation will yield wrong data. Using monthnumber requires the next higher level 'year' to create unique combinations..
