Title: Saving partial categories
Post by: cognostechie on 12 May 2009 04:06:04 PM
I added some new dimensions to an existing Transfomer model. We are not saving categories with the model.

Is there a way to save ONLY the 'new' categories that will be generated for the 'new' dimensions and levels? meaning.. don't save all the categories, just save the categories that are generated for the changed made to the model.

or after building the cube, just delete the existing categories?

If you are trying to build the categories for specific dimension you can do it manualy - By right clicking the datasource in transformer and selecing generate category option.

one thought...
set up a datasource so all columns feed levels in new dimension
right click on data source, generate categories, save mdl
if you're trying to set up security w/ user classes per dimension / drill path, you can exclude / supress categories as needed .... save mdl.... rest of categories will populate when you do a cubebuild
