Title: learning SDK

i have been in cognos since couple of years....but no idea about sdk

is there anyway or anything for beginners so that i can move ahead

any help kindly appreciated

Hi

At first decide which language you need and which is welcome in your company. The language will be always at your side so be careful with this.
The language is also determided by the programs you want to build. E.g. if you want to make extended application you may need to use jsp (java and html).
The source code protection will be also a decision you have to make.
In addition you may need/want to supprt different versions in one program - in this case you need to use interfaces (java).
At last you need to consider the price for the IDE.

As you can see some of the high influence points you need to decide (often with almost now knowledge) before you start.

Then it is a question of your knowledge. When I started programming i did not understand the Samples.
I started with the samples as well but also with a book of the language.
Often I asked other employees to help me with the language. So it will be helpful if you know the language already or you know someone who know it.

After this it is more a question of finding some samples.
Most of the questions are already answered at the knowledgebase at ibm > support > infomation management ...
