Title: Image Issue
Post by: danielep on 14 Apr 2009 10:02:09 AM
In report net I am using an image from the app server and it is working.
When I run the report in excel it is also working.
But the problem is when I send this excel file to an external email.

It doesn't show the image.

Can you help? Is it possible?

Thanks in advance,
Daniele

Hi there,

Have you got a work around  for the excel image issue?

I too have the similar issue, Images are displaying in excel when I open the files or run the report from the server where COGNOS is installed.  But when I run the report from my local machine or copy the excel file to my machine, the images are not displaying.

Can I consider it as a Cognos limitation or is there any fix given by Cognos Support?

Hoping to hear from you soon

Thanks
Prit

Do not use absolute path for image e.g. :http/servername/cognos8/samples/images".

Try using relative path of folder where images are stored e.g.  ".../samples/images" then it will display image in report exported in excel.

Hope this helps.  :)

Hi  SGD,

The path is already defined as '../samples/images/Test/ABC.GIF'

As I already said in my last post, that the excel reports are showing the Images when I run the report or open the files from the Server where cognos is Installed.

But, when I e-mail or open the files from other server location, then the images are not displaying.

Thanks

https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21342608 (https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21342608)

This is the issue with Excel 2002. I have tested with excel 2007 and seems to be working fine and users can see the images from remote locations.

Thanks
