Hello everyone,
I need to upgrade Planning Applications from Cognos Version 7.3 to 8.4.
The are going to be 2 systems: the source system(7.3) and a new one (version 8.4)
Is it possible to use the 'Planning Administration Domain Wizard' to upgrade the old (7.3) Planning Administration Domain to a new environment?
I'm thinking about backup / restore the old PlanningStore to the new Database Server and running the mentioned Wizard 'over' that old PlanningStore. After that i expect to have an upgraded PlanningStore (8.4) and upgraded applications.
Is that right?
Does anyone have any experiences / best practices for such a case?
Thanks for help,
-martin
I would copy the planning store to your new environment and then upgrade that one.
I also believe that you will have to export your macros and then re import them. Someone else may be able to confirm this.
Yep, do as you said, run the "Existing PAD upgrade wizard" and point it at your old SQL Server. As you work through the wizard it will ask you which datastore server to upgrade it to.
Select your new datastore server and it will build new apps on your new server using your old ones, it will also bring macros and administration links accross.
