Title: 2 problems with Analysis Studio
Post by: hari5 on 24 Mar 2009 07:11:51 AM
I am having 2 problems with Analysis Studio.

1. I see that lack of flexibility in the 'Context' part of the cube. I can add multiple items to this section but ONLY ONE from each folder. This will cause a problem as we need to be able to manipulate the cube to show multiple combinations from same folder.

2. We have 2 flag(status flag, current flag) columns in different folders when I add them in 'context'  they  show the values 2 times as Y and N . I am not  able to findout which one is status flag and current flag as it is not showing the column name in the context menu. Is there any way I can show the names

Thanks in advance.

I may not be following your questions but here's my shot...

1) You can have multiple items in the context from folders, just hold control down and do a multi-select.

2)  If you hold the mouse over the context filter, it will show where that filter is coming from.  If you really want to show names, change the value in the source system.

Hi Todd,

Thanks for the reply.
1.We have a Dealer folder under that there are different dimensions called dealer number, dealer name, dealer group.I am not able to drag all of them in context menu using ctl hold button.
2.I hold the mouse over the context filter but it still not showing it .
By the way cube is  Analysis cube and published in the web using Framework manager.

Thanks,
mano

Hi,

If they are different dimensions, then you don't need to use CTRL and click.  Dragging an item from a different dimension doesn't replace an item from a different dimension.

I'm able to hold the mouse over the context filter, and it shows the definition of the filter.  I'm on 8.3, so it's a possible it's different in other versions.  Another try might be to open up the properties (View -->  Properties) and it will show what the context filters and locations are.

Are you sure it's a cube, and not just a DMR model?  I was assuming that only DMR models can have folders, and that cubes just have dimensions.  Not that it matters for this question but that was always what I understood :)

I tried both of my suggestions for DMR and for a cube, and they worked on 8.3.

Good luck,

Todd

If you have Alternate DrillDown than you have folder and inside 2 or more hierarchies, and it looks bad if you want tu use both hierarchies, it will not work as in old version to put one hierarchy in rows and second in colums, the same problem if you want tu use one hierarchy in rows/colums and second in Context filter (all rows will be empty).
