Title: How to get scheduler working properly
Post by: Jdean on 09 Nov 2005 06:33:21 AM
I have a report which needs to go every hour from 11am - 7pm.

How do I get the scheduler to recognise this ? Or do I need to set up 8 cloned reports ???

Also, when I ask for an excel (any version) report to be scheduled it sends a .mth file??? (is there any way around this ??)

thanks for your time, Andrew

Sorry but read your documentation on scheduling reports...

Hi Report Addict /

Sorry if it appears to that I am wasting board members time.
I am based in the UK, and the support we get from Cognos, is quite frankly atrocious. I have a feeling they have outsourced the helpdesk function here.
We have only just taken on CRN (having never used any Cognos products previously) and knowledge is limited withing our organisation.
Of course, before posing any question I will check existing documentation (I can find no reference to scheduling) in the standard ReportStudio pdf supplied, and put in a search in your search engine (the word 'schedule' does not bring up anything that answers my question).
I am not expecting anyone here to do any research - I had just hoped that a more experienced person might know the answer off the top of their head. If not, thats fine.

Meantime thanks for setting up a great site, Andrew

For the docs -
In Cognos Connection, click Help. Browse to Report Administration, then Scheduling Reports, then read thru that.

What you are trying to do -
Make a new job, set all your options etc, when you get to the "Schedule - New Job Wizard" screen, click "By Day" and set it to "Every 1 Hours".. the problem is that it will send reports every hour, not just your timeframe.

If you only want to send the reports during a few hours during the day, setup a weekly schedule M-F with the start time on each hour you want to send the report. if you want to send 12pm - 3pm, you'd have 3 jobs.. each starting at 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm.

Cheers,

Mike
