I've been working with Cognos for about a year on this off and on and they haven't helped at all. Researching on the web I find others have had this issue, but I never see an resolution, so I'm hoping someone has a solution and might post it.
Problem is intermittent. Sometimes you can publish, sometimes you can't.
Sometimes, you have FM open, and just click on properties of a package the message pops up instantly, click properties again, all is well. the only time we have this issue is when we are trying to use en environment with two instances of Cognos/2 databases on one server. Cognos says this was fixed in 8.2 but it was not, and they have no further explanation it seems. Same packages that yield error are fine on many other servers which only have on Cognos environment.
The error is rather large, but the basic message includes the following:
The error is BMT-MDC-0001 unable to publish. CCL-RCI-0001 Unhandled third-party exception. CAM-CRP-0026 an error was returned from underlying socket.
