Title: burst keys

hi ,

i am trying to understand burst keys option ..can burst keys be assigned to any type table..

list, or crosstab or chart ..in the user guide, i saw with list report example only..i am sure it is possible with crosstab and chart...but is there a different way for each type of table..i am a beginner ...

Hi dil123,

Bursting is nothing bt the process to distribute report contents to various recipients.

Bursting is the process of running a report once and then dividing the results for distribution to recipients who each view only a subset of the data.
Burst reports can be distributed by email or
saved to a directory for viewing in Cognos Connection.


IMP:----You cannot burst crosstab reports.

Are you sure, I was thinking you can burst a cross tab but it must be placed within a list????????

yep, ure right..u can place a crosstab with a different query, place it in a list and connect the list (with query1) and the crosstab with query2 by using a master-detail relationsship.
