Title: Error while trying to update rights
Post by: arun08 on 16 Dec 2008 05:30:25 PM
I am trying to update the rights in the application. This is a development model. I am inserting the rights to it manually. I get an error message as shown below. What is causing it? Even when I try to do it through import it does not do anything.

"Cognos - Large Volume Cam Picker

The object requested does not exist - or you are not allowed to the namespace and cannot see it."
Then when I click it it I get another message.

"Run time error -'2147352567 (80020009)'
Unable to execute EAdminUI_83.pgNodeLevels.vsfgNodeLevel_CellButtonClick.

Automation error
At line 900"

I am sure you may have across such an error before. Tried KB without success.

Thanks,
Arun

Hi Arun

When exactly do you get the error? Within the rights page when clicking to select a user/group/role for an elist node?

EAdminUI_83.pgNodeLevels.vsfgNodeLevel_CellButtonClick could be due to insufficient right accessing the registry. Are you using a local admin account?

Is your user member of the built in Contributor Admin Group?

Hi Sascha,

Yes you are right "when clicking to select a user/group/role for an elist node."
Yes, I am using a local admin account.
Yes, the user is a member of the built in contributor admin group.

Did that work before? Do you know what has changed in between?

The error message sounds a little bit like having to many values to be displayed in the drop down box. Is there perhaps a too large amount of users in the Contributor Users group?

But in this case the import should work... strange. Does the import bring up the same error msg? Is the strucure of the import file according to the version you use? Keep in mind that since 8.3 the file needs additional fields like object type (e.g. 'user' or 'group') as well as the namespace (e.g. 'Cognos' or 'SunOne').
