Title: Restricting Cognos Connection Login
Post by: hem852 on 12 Dec 2008 09:41:56 AM
Hi,

I am setting up a new Cognos 8.2 install and all is going well.

One slight issue, I only want users to be able to sign on to the system if they are members of a specific user group in access manager. Is there a way to do this? I seem to be able to restrict what users can do once they are logged in but not stop users logging in in the first place.

Thanks in advance for any help.

regards
John

You can do that by enabling the option (somewhere in the Authentication section in Cognos Configuration ) "Restrict access to members of the built-in namespace". When this is true only members of groups that have been mapped in the Cognos (builtin) Namespace will be able to login.

Hope this helps
