Title: Cognos Connection failed to start
Post by: adm_agec on 12 Dec 2008 03:58:29 AM
DPR-ERR-2082 An error has occurred. Please contact your administrator. The complete error has been logged by CAF with SecureErrorID: timestamp-#number.
Details:
DPR-ERR-2008 The Dispatcher Is Unable to Process the Request. The Request Is Directed to an Unknown Service Name: local.xts.run

This is the message when I try to connect to my Cognos 8.3!
Such generic error! I've tried to restart Cognos8 service, nothing!
Restarting IIS service, nothing!
Restarting the machine, nothing!

What's the matter in your opinion?
There's something you can advise me?!
Thanks in advance guys,
ADM

Hi ADM

It looks like it can not find any available "Presentation Service" (XTS) to render the portal. I would check if the Persentation Service is enabled in the Cognos Configuration Tool or check the logs to see if it fails to start. If this is a multi server install you'll need to check it on all Servers ;-)

Hope this helps

GREATEST, I'll try! ;)

EDIT:

Thanks a lot kolonell!! The service PresentationService was False, not True!
Now it works!  ;D

R&D Done:
1). Inetmgr--> Internet Information Services--> World Wide Web Services--> Application Development Features--> Check marked on CGI or ISAPI Extensions

2). Added an ISAPI or CGI restriction

3). In Handler Mappings, added *.cgi as path,Module as CGI Module, and in Request Restrictions - Invoke as File&Folder,in Access Tab checked the Execute radio button.

Please do needful to resolve this issue...
Thanks In Advance...
