Title: Scheduling Problem returning strange results
Post by: johnpenna on 01 Aug 2005 10:16:31 AM
Hi All,
When I use the scheduller or submit a report I always get two files back, the second one having been renamed with a 1 at the end.

One is always a blank HTML file and the other renamed file contains the report. The format of the report is Excel 2000.

This is the only report that works.
All the other formats when running the schedule send a link to the user via email which look like a XML type file.(mhL)extension name???

Any Ideas???

I am very familiar with this problem.  The Excel 2000 format is the only format that you can send to people that don't have Excel 2002 or later, and when you deliver it by email, you get the blank HTML file.  I guess the good news, if you want to call it that, is that users with the newer versions of Excel can open the Excel 2002 format, which is actually delivered as an MHT file.  I've hounded Cognos for a resolution to the problem with the Excel 2000 format, but haven't gotten anywhere.  Good luck!

The official reply from Cognos...
"
choose to e-mail it to a user, in excel 2000 single sheet format, arrives in e-mail as an html attachment
choose to e-mail it to a user in excel 2000 format, arrives in e-mail as an html attachment and an xls
choose to e-mail it to a user in excel 2002 format, arrives in e-mail as an mht attachment
"

Looks like I am stuck with it
