Has anyone ever used CSS to position objects?Ã, I do a lot of reports where I have a preprinted form scanned to an image and use the image as a background image on the page and want to position fields in the report to line up with the underlying form (image). I think I could use CSS to do this but don't know if it's done with an HTML item or what.Ã, I need to output these reports to PDF and have seen that HTML items only work with HTML output.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jim
Conditional formatting should do the trick.
Sorry, but I don't know what you mean about using conditional formatting. I have an image of a scanned form as the background image of the page. If I want to put a field from the model at position 403, 252 how do I do it? To this point I have been adding tables and adjusting the height and width to get a table in place to position a field on the report where the field will display in the correct position in relation to the background image.
I've attached a gif image of what I've had to do but doesn't work well. In the image I have tried to represent two tables and a field called employee_name. The first table would have it's height set to drive down the table with the field in it to display properly when the report is printed.
But does this render in PDF?
Yes, the background image renders fine in pdf, it's just a pain to locate the fields to match placement against the image. I've used a graphics editor to remove all the text and lines from the image and just use it as a background. Then I recreate all the text and lines with Report Studio and it is working ok. This report wasn't too bad I have some government type forms that are a pain.
Thanks!
