Title: Analyst Library Timestamp
Post by: minhminh on 11 Nov 2008 10:53:19 AM
I just upgraded to Analyst 8.3. The guy before me didn't do a very good job at maintaining libraries and now there's about 200 libraries that we don't use anymore. I’m trying to clean out some old models/libraries that we don’t use anymore, does anyone know of a place that I can find a time stamp on an analyst link, library and/or cube to see the last time it was used? I could only think of doing this by looking at the last date modified in the folder itself, but isn't there some files behind the scenes that keep track of this? Please let me know if there's a way to do this. Your time is greatly appreciated. thanks

The other files that contain data regarding a library cannot be read by users, only by Cognos.  For example OBAX.tab REFLIST.D0

My approach would be as you suggest.  Look at the modify time of the files themselves.  Just be careful if you start deleting the files themselves in the libraries, (I would suggest use File->Library->Objects) as some objects have more then one file, e.g. DCubes - H2 and H2D files.

I am not aware of any other files.

CHEERS FISHERMAN,

Followed your approach and I managed to overcome a similar prob. Decided to register on this site and as your the first to help me with a problem decided to use your name with a subtle difference as a thankyou. You saved me loads of time.

Its not always the quickest way to do things, but if you need to know the last time a particular cube (in fact any object) has been modified then the Summary Info screen can be useful.
