I assume you mean load balancing techniques?

Check the manual for this.  There are three options 'database only', 'limited local processing' and 'flexible'.  They decide where it is best to perform the query and it's best on the database.  however some functions are Impromptu only, so 'database only' will not work.  Try and use database functions wherever possible.

There are 3 types of load processing they are Server only Processing,Limited Local Processing and Flexible Processing.Only the first two processing are generally used but not the last one (Flexible processing).
You can adjust the client/server balance so that queries are processed on only the server, with
limited local processing, or with flexible processing.
The Creator user class can adjust the client/server balance for any subordinate user class.
