Title: Enable Multiprocessing in Cognos Transformer 8.3.821
Post by: a29miller on 15 Oct 2008 09:36:03 AM
All:

I am a relative newcomer to the advanced usage of cognos tranformer, specifically the usage of multiprocessing.  I am running cognos 8.3 and the latest version of transformer to build a cube that utilizes an iqd over an iseries as400 data source.

I understand that in previous versions of transformer, there was an option to enable multiprocessing by setting an option for the data source in transformer.  However, in the Transformer 8.3 version, it appears that this is handled by the installation of program called IQD 7 bridge (or something to that effect;)).  I have installed that component as part of the transformer install, but when I build the cube, it appears to max out one CPU, and not use any more.

Does anyone have any ideas why this might occur and what I can do to better utilize the 4 cpus that I have on the cube  build server?

I appreciate your time!!

Thanks

Tony  :)

Hello Tony,

I looked for it, but you're right, it seems this option disappeared in Transformer 8.3. What i did find (but you already did too, I suppose) is a Help Article in Transformer's Help - click Search and search for "Reducing Build Times for Large PowerCubes", maybe that could help you out.

Good luck!

Bjorn
