Post by: lie-sa on 25 Sep 2008 10:47:52 PM
Hi,

I'm creating a cognos report from the scratch on report studio,
what i did were: click report studio envi >> package >> list report >> i set all  the data items needed and the filters >> arrange the header >>

The problem was... when the time i'm doing the body of the report, I  CAN'T DRAG the DATA items at Work area... and a window appeared showing:

"The Insertion does not have an associate query"

I also checked the parameters, yet it doesn'T evolve:  the available components for PARAMETERS IS EMPTY..

I did put  a container within the body cell, yet i'm having a problem on column title...

How can i able to associate a uery on a page?
please give me step by step  on assigning a query on a page.thnx alot in advance... it will be a great help for a new user like me...

Please advise me what to do...

this is urgent  my deadline will be on monday (09-29-08)

Your response would be a great help..

THANK you in advance..

try going to File, Pages, Page Breaks, and select your query from the list.

You need to go through cognos report studio user guide as it seems that you are missing basic concept.
You can not drag a query item to an object that is not associated with that query.
Select the list/crosstab whatever you have, go to ancestor button, select the object and point to the query.

if you are creating a "list" type of report, you first must drag a list into the body of the report. then you will be able to drag data fields into the list.
The body, of the report, is designed to hold a container, a list, chart or some other container that can be associated with a query, or creates a query on it's own. If you do not start with a container, then you must associate the page with an existing query.

First of all..get the Basics correct.

First refer to online guide for Report Studio..follow the examples given to build a report and this will expose you correctly to the Cognos Development Enviornment.
