Title: REPORT STUDIO PARAMETERS problem
Post by: lie-sa on 25 Sep 2008 04:46:46 AM
Hi,

I'm creating a cognos report from the scratch on report studio,
what i did were: click report studio envi >> package >> list report >> i set all  the data items needed and the filters >> arrange the header >>

The problem was... when the time i'm doing the body of the report, I  CAN'T DRAG the DATA items at Work area... and a window appeared showing:

"The Insertion does not have an associate query"

I also checked the parameters, yet it doesn'T evolve:  the available components for PARAMETERS IS EMPTY..

Please advise me what to do...

May I request to please enumerate one by one the steps that I should take ...
since  I am a new user of this tool..

this is urgent  my dedeline will be on monday (09-29-08)

Your response would be a great help..

THANK you in advance.. :)

Hi lie-sa,

are you trying to drag any of your data items from your query into the header part of the report? If yes, pls associate the page to the query for the data item and you would be able to do so.

But ur post title says report studio parameters problem ??? which parameter are you trying to display - can you be a bit more clear?

You can't just drag data items in report body without a container.
Container = table, list, crosstab, block etc...
Or without associating a query in the page.
Select page and assign a query first.

go to report pages in the page explorer.
highlight the page
go to properties section
there is a query section, click on that and highlight the query that has the data items you want to use.

??? Has this issue been resolved? It appears as if you just need to associate the query with the List object using Ancestor properties
